Because Holy Scripture alone determines Christian belief and practice, no manmade statement can contain all the richness of the Christian faith. However, we believe the answers Scripture provides for these questions are the foundation of a Godly life, the Church’s rule of faith, and Christian worship.
Who is God?
The triune God is the creator of all things seen and unseen; for Him and His glory all things exist. He is one tripersonal being existing eternally in the Father, His only-begotten Son, and the Holy Spirit.(Matthew 28:16-20; Colossians 1:15-20; John 14:15-16)
Who is Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ is the sinless Son of God born of the virgin Mary, wholly God and wholly man, who died for our sins and rose from the dead. (John 1:1-5; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Colossians 1:15-20; Matthew 1:18-25)
What is the Bible?
The Bible is the 66 Books of the Old and New Testaments, breathed out by God, as an inspired, inerrant testimony to His Son which God uses to provide saving knowledge of Himself and empower every good work.(2 Timothy 3:16-17; Luke 24:25-27; Romans 10:15-18)
What are Man and Woman?
Man and Woman, in all they are, are the image of God descended from our first parents, Adam and Eve.(Genesis 1:27-28)
What is Marriage?
Marriage is a unique display of the gospel in a loving, covenant union of one man and one woman. God gave sexual intercourse to this union alone; anything else is a deviation from God’s design for sexuality and marriage alike.(Genesis 1:27-28; Romans 1:24-27; Ephesians 4:22-33)
What are Sin and the Fall?
The Fall was our first parents’ disobedience of God and consequent descent into corruption so that now each person also disobeys and thus is far from God.(Genesis 3:1-21; Romans 3:23, 5:12-14)
What is the Gospel?
The Gospel is God’s work through the atoning death and life-giving resurrection of Christ so that all who believe in him will be brought near to Father in forgiveness and experience new life through union with Christ and the Spirit’s indwelling.(John 3:16; Romans 3:19-31, 6:1-23)
How can we Receive Salvation?
We receive salvation by repenting of our sins and believing in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
(Romans 10:9; Mark 1:15; Acts 3:19)
What is Baptism?
Baptism, immersion into and emergence from water, is God’s word to us about our salvation through which we must obey and follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in his own death and resurrection.(Romans 6:1-23; Acts 2:38; Matthew 3:13-15)
What is Communion?
Holy Communion is Christ’s institution of bread and wine for the church to proclaim the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the church’s growth into Christ’s likeness.
(Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
What is the Sermon?
The Sermon is the proclamation, explanation, and application of Christ in Scripture by his servants through which God awakens faith and forms his people more into Christ’s likeness.
(Nehemiah 8:8; 1 Thessalonians 2:9-13; Romans 10:15)
How do Christians Live Their Faith?
Christians live their faith by putting their sinful actions, feelings, and thoughts to death and living out of their union with Christ following him and Spirit for God’s glory. (Colossians 3:1-17, 3:23; Romans 6:1-23, 8:1-11)
What is the Church?
The Church is the body of Jesus on earth gathered in local bodies which form God’s people into the image of Christ under the guidance of qualified elders and through the service of deacons.
(Ephesians 4:1-16; 1 Timothy 3:1-16; Matthew 16)
How Will the World End?
Jesus will one day return for His Church. Those who are His will be resurrected to everlasting life and those who are not to everlasting death. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Isaiah 66:15-24; Revelation 20:11-15)
